The Derby is officially live for GW1!

We're deciding to pivot from the rewards points system in dealing out the prize money for the weekly contest. Moving forward, each weekly winner will receive $50.

Right now, we're in the process of collecting as many sign ups as possible as well as feedback to ensure that the website and drafting process is as fun and seamless as it can be.

Hello and welcome to our fantasy sports platform - Remontada.

I must admit, it is very exciting to finally be able to make such an update. It's been about a year in the making to get to this point.

As we're inching closer to launch day, let me discuss what we're trying to build and accomplish.

While Remontada will eventually have different types of contests, for now we will focus on our flagship contest - The Derby. This is a best ball format contest for the English Premier League. This means that you will be able to hop in a lobby with different players and draft EPL players to build out your team. This contest is a weekly one, so you will be able to draft new teams on a weekly basis and try to win that week.

For those that don't know what best ball means, I'll explain it further here. I'll be using the roster format from our weekly contest so it's just easier to explain. You will draft 12 players from the EPL, however only 8 of your highest scorers for that week will actually be accounted for, for your team's point total. You do not need to make any management decisions other than who you plan on drafting. The roster format is as follows: 12 total players, 8 starters, 3 forwards, 2 midfielders, 2 defenders, and 1 goalie. For this weekly contest, you are given a maximum of 10 entries per week. So once you draft a team, you can hop back into a lobby to maximize your chances of placing higher up on the standings and earning more rewarda points to better your chances at winning the sweepstakes which concludes at the halfway mark (after GW19) of the EPL season.

We are adamant that the best ball format works hand-in-hand with football. Being able to draft multiple teams and enter them into the same contest to maximize your odds of winning, while not having to worry about which players start or sit makes it more convenient for you to just sit back and enjoy our products and matches. This is a format that is very popular within the American football fantasy sports industry and we want to bring it to football fans all over the world, with the best sport in the world.

Looking to the future, we have dreams of expanding our contests and products, but for now, everything will be free-to-play and our main focus will be the weekly best ball contest. The good thing is that we can adapt and work quickly to make any changes to better suit the needs of our playerbase.
